KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Saeed Ghani criticized the Supreme Court's decision to hold elections in Punjab before other provinces and said it would be equivalent to establishing a new "one unit" in the country.

In a statement on Thursday, Mr Ghani said that while the Supreme Court has the authority to make decisions under the Constitution, it does not have the authority to set up panchayats.

He added that the PPP does not accept the SC's insistence on holding elections in Punjab before other provinces.

Mr Ghani emphasized the importance of Punjab's seats in the National Assembly and stated that any party that forms the government in Punjab would have an impact on the entire country.

He also questioned the stubbornness of the Supreme Court and advocated for holding elections on a single day throughout the country.

"Balochistan and Sindh want elections to be held on one day, then why is the SC being stubborn?" Mr Ghani said, urging for elections to be held simultaneously across the country.
